Falling star has nothing linked with star. When you look at sky sometime you may see the streak of amazing light. These are the result of tiny bits of dust and rocks which are called as Meteoroids. When these objects falls into earth atmosphere it gets burn and streak of light appears. The trail of light the burning Meteoroids is called a Meteor.
Meteors are commonly called as Shooting star or Falling stars.
If the remaining parts of survive in the burn then those parts are called as a meteorite.
At certain years the number of meteors in the sky are seen in large number. This events are called meteors showers and this occurs when the Earth passes through the trail of debris left by a comet as it orbits the Sun.
These names are given from the name based from constellations presents in the sky which they appear to originate.
It is important to understand that the meteoroids (and therefore the meteors) do not really originate from the constellations or any of the stars in the constellations, however. They just seem to come from that part of the sky because of the way the Earth encounters the particles moving in the path of the comet’s orbit. Associating the shower name with the region of the sky they seem to come from just helps astronomers know where to look!
